Excellence in Pupil Development Award

The Dales School

Impact statement:

The impact of the Excellence in Pupil Development Award is palpable. The School hasn’t rested on its laurels with an Outstanding Ofsted report – they have used the award to further strengthen the provision and celebrate all that is great. Personal development is prioritised and is taught through a bespoke creative curriculum that allows every child to flourish. The school acknowledges the following impact of the award:

  • A high quality Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education (PSHCE) curriculum is in place – praised by Ofsted.
  • It has highlighted the importance of personal development.
  • An outstanding range of enrichment opportunities is now embedded seamlessly into the curriculum.
  • Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural audit has resulted in a high-quality offer woven into the curriculum and shared with staff to track learning and opportunities.
  • Stronger links developed with partnerships to further enhance the curriculum.
  • A clear behaviour and relationship policy in place that is understood by all.

Head teacher comments:
'I am delighted that we have successfully gained this award. It is such an important area of development for our pupils and recognises our staff’s commitment to developing pupils’ character, interpersonal skills and developing personal qualities through a wide range of experiences linked to our bespoke enrichment programme. Many thanks to all involved.'
