SEND Inclusion Award

The Haven, Autism Initiatives

"I am extremely proud of the outcomes of the SEND Inclusion Award verification for The Haven. The verification process provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our practice as a specialist setting and to recognise the hard work, dedication and expertise of our staff team in meeting the complex and individual needs of our learners.

The feedback affirms our strong commitment to highly personalised, learner-centred provision rooted in inclusive practice. As a small, specialist school, we place great emphasis on knowing our learners well, building trusting relationships and adapting provision responsively to ensure every learner feels safe, valued and supported to succeed. The recognition of our robust assessment systems, reflective practice and strong use of pupil voice is particularly encouraging, as these areas are fundamental to our ethos and daily practice.

Partnership working remains central to our approach. I am pleased that the strength of our relationships with families and the positive impact of clear, consistent communication have been highlighted. Equally important is the acknowledgement of our staff team’s professionalism, commitment to ongoing development and shared responsibility for learner outcomes.

The identified areas for development align with our strategic priorities and will further strengthen our curriculum, learner voice and staff empowerment as we continue to evolve as a school. This award validates our current practice while also supporting our ambition to continue improving outcomes and preparing our learners for meaningful adult lives.

I would like to thank pupils, families, staff and external partners for their continued trust, collaboration and support. Together, we remain committed to ensuring The Haven provides a safe and supportive environment where everyone can grow to their full potential."
