Wellbeing Award for Schools

Parkside House School

Key achievements

1. Stakeholder impact

  • The award helped us identify key areas across all stakeholders where we can make a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

2. Understanding wellbeing

  • We developed a deeper understanding that wellbeing is a vital aspect of everyone's life and has a real impact.

3. Positive outcomes

  • Recognising and supporting wellbeing will bring profound positives to all aspects of school and home life.

4. Holistic review

  • We carried out an in-depth review of every aspect of the school, young people, and parents/carers to see how we could improve support and understanding around mental health and wellbeing.

5. Implemented Changes

  • We implemented a range of changes, including updating policies, creating new policies, introducing wellbeing champions, focusing more on staff wellbeing, and taking active steps to reduce the stigma around mental health.

Impact at Parkside House School

  • The impact of what we have done has benefitted all stakeholders and this is made clear through the various parent, pupil and staff voice conducted.
  • The award has allowed the topic of wellbeing to be discussed more openly and gave everyone a voice to support one another.
  • The impact of this award will benefit our young people throughout their lives and academically.
  • The staff feel more supported and have the confidence to support one another.
  • Parents have a better understanding and know how to support their children, working with the school.
  • Our students can struggle with the social, emotional and mental health on a daily basis and providing support with this has definitely had an impact on pupil achievement.
  • A young person can work better in an environment that they know supports them and ensures their safety.

In their words

The whole experience start to finish was excellent. Lots of support, guidance and information available throughout the award made the process clear and achievable with dedication.

I would absolutely recommend this award 10/10. I have already told numerous other people who work in schools about the award.

Looking ahead

Our next steps are to continually put wellbeing at the forefront of our approach to ensure everyone is supported at all times. More and more staff will be trained, as well as opportunities for the students. We have created a strong foundation from this award and plan on sustaining this and improving.
